How does the fourth angel relate to the third angel?

     The first and second angel’s have given their messages. Now as the third angel gives his message that Babylon is fallen, it swells into a loud cry. This fourth angel that joins the third angel in this cry has been endowed with much glory from God. He is to unite his voice with that of the third to add power and force to his message. This is the harvest message.

What are the two parts to the Loud Cry?

     The great and mighty angel  is seen coming with great power and glory to join his voice with that of the third. His voice swells into a loud cry as he proclaims that Babylon is fallen, and has become the habitation of everything evil. Then he begs and warns the children of God to come out of her. The patient saints also joined in the warning for God’s people to come out of Babylon, which is headed fast down the road to destruction. So. Babylon is fallen. Come out of her my people…, and reward her even as she rewarded you. The plagues are soon to fall.

What are the two parts to the final warning?

     The angel comes down from Heaven announcing the sins of Babylon so that the earth knows what she has done. Then he says “Come out of her, My people. Because he is joining his voice to the third angel, these two announcements unite with the third angel’s message, creating the final warning. It  is declared of Babylon, “Her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.”  Revelation 18:5. She has filled up the measure of her guilt, and destruction is about to fall upon her.  These announcements are made to call out the people of God that still remain in Babylon. “Be ye not partakers of her sins”. they must be brought out before God’s judgments are brought upon the city and the plagues are wrought upon the land. The third angel’s message connects with the the fourth angel’s cry- announcing the attrocities of Bablon. These make up the final warning which must be preached to every corner of the earth.

What is the difference between “Babylon is fallen” in the second angel’s message of Revelation 14, as given in the summer of 1844, and “Babylon is fallen” in the Loud Cry of Revelation 18?

       Babylon is fallen!- proclaims the second angel. The first angel’s message had been ignored. The corrupt churches have not heeded the warning.  Granted some people did believe and leave these fallen churches, but they were a minority. Since the message of the second angel in 1844, there has been even more evil. There has been even greater deceptions and paganism. The second message is repeated by the fourth angel who is warning God’s people to come out of Babylon. The world is become wicked beyind all comprehension. All have been warned. All have decided whose side they are on,  and it is time for the loud cry. God’s people are fitted for the temptation which is soon to confront them. A great light is seen to be resting upon them as together they take up the cry. Babylon has rejected God’s law (including the fourth commandment) and His messengers. Now they must suffer the consequences.

Babylon is become: “the habitation of devils,” “the hold of every foul spirit,” “and a cage of every unclean      and hateful bird.”  Explain each of these elements.

     Babylon had ignored God for so long and trampled upon the very precepts of His law. God is a God of mercy, and sent warnings to not only warn but plead for the people to come out. God still had a people in the wicked city of Babylon. This verse seems to more describe Babylon’s punishment than her sins. This is also described in Isaiah. (21:9, 13:21). Babylon had drawn men into a spiritual adultery. It is a hang out for devils. It is where the evil, wicked, pleasure-loving people reign.  It used to be believed that unlean spirits and hateful birds haunted a city or a house that lay in ruins. which would correspond to Babylon after it is destroyed. Now God is not obliged to give the reasons for the destruction of Babylon, but He is happy to show the people His fairness in the destruction. Babylon has engaged in every foul thing, and every foul and unclean thought has entered her. Idolatry, blasphemy, adultery are rampant. We are told in Isaiah 13:21 that it shall be the seat and habitation of devils, of wild beasts, and of cursed souls. Devils is understood to mean an inferior deity. All the spirits and demons of Satan are inferior to God and His army, and God is calling out His people from Babylon to come fight against the wicked Babylon.

List and explain the sins of Babylon, as stated in Revelation 18.

     For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

    “For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.” (Rev. 18:3)    – Babylon had truly drawn men into adultery of the spiritual nature. They were obeying and clinging to false doctrines that directly opposed the word of God. Through all her wealth and richness she had kept them enthralled with her.  Little by little they were lead away from the light and they became drunk and infatuated with the pleasures of this earth. Living in contentment with all the delicacies the kings of the earth even became lead astray. They tramples on God’s word and participated in leading others away from Him as well. They have violated the seventh day sabbath, and followed the beast and worshipped on his day. They have no part in God but have received the mark of the beast.

 Why does Revelation 18 say that Babylon receives the plagues?
  Because her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. She has filled up the measure of her guilt, and destruction is about to fall upon her. Babylon has been warned- but she has not heeded the warning. Those people of God who remain in Babylon are called out, so that they don’t receive her punishment. The third angel’s message along with the loud cry constitute the final warning.
       If you are honestly serving God, what difference does it make which church you belong to? [according to Revelation 18]

    If  you are honestly serving God, you will be attending the church that is in unison with His word by keeping all His laws. The Bible says that by beholding we become changed. We are not to be participating with those who walk in darkness, for the blind cannot lead the blind. If one is united with or joining with the ranks of the church that violates God’s principles then he is in danger of hell fire. Many churches are fallen and are a part of Babylon. They refuse the light and continue to walk in darkness, thus receiving the mark of the beast. We must refrain from joining the ranks of these churches or we will be considered a part of the fallen entity.

Why are there only two distinct calls made to the churches?

There are only two calls made because the completion of the union of church with e world is not yet fully reached throughout the world. the fall of Babylon is not yet complete.  The change is a progressive one, and the perfect fulfillment of Revelation 14:8 is yet future.  {GC 389.3} God still has some of His chosen ones in Babylon. They must come out before His judgment.  In connection with his message the call is heard: “Come out of her, My people. These announcements, uniting with the third angel’s message, constitute the final warning to be given to the inhabitants of the earth. {GC 604.1} Just before Jesus comes again the angel of revelation 18:1 joins in the voice of the second angel in the message, “Babylon is fallen.” “ Come out of her my people.”

When is the Loud Cry suppose to be given?

      We are supposed to spread this message to all nations, tongues, and peoples. After world has The loud cry is supposed to come after the message has been given to all nations, tongues, and peoples. God will not forbear the wicked forever. But He is seeking win all souls to salvation. God’s faithful ones must be called out of Babylon that they receive not of her plagues. Once the sunday law has been passed and it becomes a crime to transgress that day, then shall Babylon’s days be over. Her cup is full. She has had more than enough time, and the day of destruction will come.

What is it that gives power to the Loud voice [Cry]?

     “Then I saw another mighty angel commissioned to descend to earth, and unite his voice with the third angel, and give power and force to his message.”  The light, power and glory that God has given him. God had given this angel great power and glory. His glory lighted up the earth as he descended. The light went before and after him, and it lighted up the entire earth. He joined his voice with the third angel and cried out, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hatelful bird.”  The fall of Babylon was proclaimed by the second angel, and it is being repeated again, but this there are more corruptions which have been entering the churches since 1844- when the second message was given.

       When does Babylon’s sins reach unto heaven?

        The law of God will eventually be considered no longer law. Men will take it upon themselves to create and obey their own laws. They will make a law that the first day of the week is to becom ethe new sabbath, which God never intended to happen. His law is to be eternal. It is still in the Ark in Heaven, and the fourth commandment is even brighter that the others. It is a wonder that God starts out this commandment with the word, “remember. ” Perhaps it is because He knew that we would forget… Eventually a law will be made that trangressing the first day of the week is to be met with punishsment. When this happens, Babylon has gone over the edge. She has run the race and cheated. She has to come to the gate lacking. She has been weighed in the balances and found wanting.          – “God keeps a record with the nations. The figures are swelling against them in the books of heaven, and when it shall have become a law that the transgression of the first day of the week shall be met with punishment, then their cup will be full.–7BC 910 (1886).

“Go ye into All the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. “

!. “How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.” Babylon is proud and haughty. She is proud of her wealth, and she puts herself upon a pedestal. She has lived in luxury. She has denied herself of nothing and has defiled herself with the lusts and pleasures of earthen vessels.  She has ignored her need of God’s grace. She thinks she has everything and therefore she will discover that she is lacking.

1. In verse three of Revelation 18, we see that Babylon’s  sin is fornication. She has mingled herself with the world. She has accepted the same belief that the papacy holds- the first day of the week as being sacred.

2. “And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning…”  She has committed fornication with the kings of the earth by accepting sunday as the sabbath and promoting this pagan doctrine. She has united in the pagan beliefs of the world. She has joined herself with the beast and received his mark.

 3.  “By thy sorceries were all nations deceived.”  Not only did Babylon deceive herself, she dragged others along leading them astray by her deceit.

“And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.”  Babylon tolerated no oppostion. When the saints refused to unite with her in her paganism and idolatry she persecuted and murdered them. She is guilty of murdering the innocent and their blood is on her hands.

Why is our church finding  itself in this situation of La Sierra University professors teaching evolution as fact? Evolution has always been taught as a wayward belief in our Adventist colleges. Students are shown the fall throughs and incapabilities of life evolving from nothingness. But now at La Sierra University professors are teaching evolution as a fact. Over the ages the people of God have wanted to come as close to sin as they possibly can without actually sinning. They want to get as close to the wall as possible without actually touching it. But when they continually push these boundaries they boundaries begin to fade- a slow fade. When we give in little by little to sin black and white will eventually turn to gray. But people never crumple in a day.  It’s like cooking a frog. If you just keep turning up the heat little by little the frog wil just sit there and get cooked- enjoying it the whole way! The people of this day and age are becoming blind. We compromise and compromise until we find that the straight and narrow path is no longer in sight! We have went from only a “little sin”, only a “slight error” to absolute blasphemy. Compromising with the world only leads to ultimate destruction, and eventually receiving the mark of the beast.  The entire Bible is the direct word of God. It was spoken by Him to others.  It is infallible and unshakable. You can’t believe only some of it. You must take God at His word from Creation down to the end.

      What can we do about this?  Something!, I assure you. We have to compare everything that we do witht he scriptures. Everything has to be in harmony with the word of God. If we aren’t in harmony with it, then we will be led astray.  We have to submit our wills to God so that He can mold us and enlighten us. We have to let Him take the scales off our eyes so that we can see. Only by searching the scriptures can we discover the gold ore. God isn’t going to just show us knowlege that we never bothered to try to understand. He will reveal to us the truth only if we search for it. A house divided against itself cannot stand. We have to decide whether we are black or white, cold or hot, 100% for God or 100% against Him. In the battle of Armageddon you are 666 or 7. There is no gray, no lukewarm, and no 50%. Go to the Bible for all your answers- it will never let you down!

                        The Third Angel’s Message and You and Me

   When Christ entered the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary to perform the closing work of the atonement, he committed to his servants the last message of mercy to be given to the world. Such is the warning of the third angel of Revelation 14. Immediately following its proclamation, the Son of man is seen by the prophet coming in glory to reap the harvest of the earth.  {4SP 273.1}

This message is to be regarded with the uttmost respect and importance. YOUR life depends on it.  The way in which we regard this message will affect the they way we spread it- if we spread it at all.  There are thousands hungering for the truth of this message. They don’t know what it means. Will you leave them to wonder?

What is the core content of the third angel’s message?

     Justification by Faith – It is glorify Jesus who sacrificed His life for us. We are justified by having faith that His blood will cover our imperfect charcters. By believing In Christ we are given the free gift of eternal life. (But one must remember that faith without works is dead.) It invites the whole world  to receive the righteousness of Christ. We have to obey all of God’s commandments in order to see this though. So many people had and have lost sight ofChrist. They don’t have that connection with Him. The third angel’s message is directing us to Jesus, whom we seem to have forgotten. It is justification through in the Surety.  It is calling us accept this free gift of Christ’s righteouness.

When did Jesus send the third angel’s message?

      After the First and Second Angel had given their warning. – 1844. Elders [E.J.] Waggoner and [A. T.] Joneswere used by God to give a sacred message to the followers of Christ. The power that then jolted the world will again be revealed. Jesus gave us the privilege of giving this message to the world when He entered into the most holy place, where He will be doing the closing work of the atonement.

-The third angel’s message will go forth, not in whispered tones, but with a loud voice.–5T 252 (1885).  {LDE 202.1}

How did the third angel light up the past, the present, and the future to the early advent believers after the passing of the time in 1844?

The third angel was building upon what the other messages had said. The message of the angel following the third is now to be given to all parts of the world. It is called the harvest message

The message  of the second angel’s message is repeated to the world by that other angel who lightens the earth with his glory. These messages all blend in one,  to come before the people in the closing days of this earth’s history.   {2SM 116.2} They all relate to eachother. It is a message with three parts. They are known as three because of the order of their rise. Once they are all risen, however, they are one.

Why does the evangelical Christian world not accept the truth of Christ’s change of ministration from the holy place to the most holy place in 1844?

      The world does not want to recognize this. even thougth they may know deep in their hearts that this is true, they want to worship on the first day of the week. It  does’t want to acknowledge the law. It knows this will spark others to reconsider their faith, and ti tries desparately to keep the people from seeing the light.

None could fail to see that if the earthly sanctuary was a figure or pattern of the heavenly, the law deposited in the ark on earth was an exact transcript of the law in the ark in Heaven, and that an acceptance of the truth concerning the heavenly sanctuary involved an acknowledgment of the claims of God’s law, and the obligation of the Sabbath of the fourth commandment. Here was the secret of the bitter and determined opposition to the harmonious exposition of the Scriptures that brought to view the ministration of Christ in the heavenly sanctuary. {4SP 275.1}

How is the message of justification by faith the third angel’s message?

   This world needs to have itself pointed to Jesus’ mercy, His unfailing love, and His merits that he bestows upon us. We can’t pass through the judgment in our filthy rags without going to Christ and accepting His perfect character. That is a part of the mediation package which He gives to us. God’s people have to have faith that He will come and reap the good of the earth. they are discouraged and feeling unworthy. But they hang on by faith, and they are encouraged.

“Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”

It presented justification through faith in the Surety; it invited the people to receive the righteousness of Christ, which is made manifest in obedience to ALL the commandments of God.  {LDE 200.1}

What is the purpose of the numbering system for the angels’ messages of Revelation 14?

 Some people who accepted the third message didn’t have an experience in the first or second. They were just accepting by faith the third message. And those who knew the other messages were able to help show the way. The messages are really all one. Almost like the Trinity. All the messages have a part. They are only different messages because of the order in which they were given. But once given, they all go on together. They are one. The third message, as well as the second, didn’t only succeed the first, they were part of it. These messages will be shown to the world in its last days.

The third angel was pointing the way to the most holy place, and the people  who had had an experience in the past messages showing  the way to the heavenly sanctuary. Many saw the perfect chain of truth in the angels’ messages, and gladly received them in their order, and followed Jesus by faith into the heavenly sanctuary. IN REVELATION 14:8, 9 IS NOT SIMPLY THAT THE SECOND AND THIRD ANGELS FOLLOWED THE FIRST IN POINT OF TIME, BUT THAT THEY WENT WITH HIM. THE THREE MESSAGES ARE BUT ONE THREEFOLD MESSAGE. THEY ARE THREE ONLY IN THE ORDER OF THEIR RISE. BUT HAVING RISEN, THEY GO ON TOGETHER AND ARE INSEPARABLE.  {GC 693.1}

 How do the first, second, and third angels’ messages all blend into one?

They all relate to eachother. Even though they are given separately, once they are given they go as one. Revelation 14:6, 7 fortells the proclamation  of the first angel’s message. John continues to say,“THERE FOLLOWED ANOTHER ANGEL, SAYING, BABYLON IS FALLEN, IS FALLEN. . . . AND THE THIRD ANGEL FOLLOWED THEM.” The word followed means to go along with. They are proceeding eachother.

How can you show that the mediation of Christ and the perpetuity of the law of God are the truths of the third angel’s message?

    The third angel was pointing the way to the holiest of the heavenly sanctuary where Jesus is found to be.  We know that His blood covers us and God sees only His perfect character in place of our filthy ones.  “The temple of God was opened in Heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament.” [REV. 11:19] The ark of God’s testament is in the second apartment of the sanctuary. As Christ entered there, to minister in the sinner’s behalf, the inner temple was opened, and the ark of God was brought to view.”

Jesus is pleading on our behalf. He has paid the price and begs to let it be sufficient. He has passed the test and is pleading the case of you and me. But, He is pleading before the ark of God, which contains God’s law. This law is the same yesterday, today, and forever. It is the same law that God wrote with His own finger. It is the same law that was handed to Moses. this law was not only given to Moses, but also in Heaven. A copy was given to Moses, while the original is still in Heaven. Amid this law is the fourth commandment as it was written from the start. It has not been changed or altered in the least; and we as His people are responsible to uphold the law in its entirety. Not only this, but we are responsible to spread the truth.

 Where is the “here” in Revelation 14:12: “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God” “and their faith in Jesus.”

The prophet John was shown in a vision the people  that were  represented by the five wise virgins. These people had accepted the third angel’s message.  This message is the most fearsome on ethat has ever been uttered. It warns God’s people to be careful. They must constantly watching out lest they stumble. “They will be brought into close contact with the beast and his image.” If they they are faithful, if they reamin steadfast, of they keep their gaze fixed in Jesus then they have the asurance of eternal life. their lives are now at stake, but they must have patience. If they are patient in enduring the trials and keeping the commandments of God then they will find that their persistence will finally pay off. They find that the price was cheap enough.

 What is the “action step[s]” for the third angel’s message?

      We are to spread the news to the very ends of the earth. It is a life and death matter that can’t be ignored. Many don’t understand that justification by faith is the core concept of this message. they can’t earn their way into Heaven.

Men are not to be left in darkness concerning this important matter; the warning against this sin is to be given to the world before the visitation of God’s judgments, that all may know why they are to be inflicted, and have opportunity to escape them…   The warning of the third angel…   will command the attention of the world.  {GC 449.2}  We are to take this gospel to the very ends of the earth. the third angel’s message is to be proclaimed with great power by those who give the final warning against the beast and his image. John was shown a people that were different from the rest of the world. They did not observe the first, but rather the fourth day of the week as the Sabbath of the Lord; for Sunday observance is the mark of the beast.

When Jesus went into the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary to perform the closing work of the atonement, he gave us the privilege of giving the last message of mercy to all of mankind. Such is the warning of the third angel of Revelation 14. Immediately following its proclamation, the Son of man is seen by the prophet coming in glory to reap the harvest of the earth. {4SP 273.1 (reworded)}

What are the two purposes for the warning against the beast and his image contained in the third message?

    The world has to be warned against this sin before God judges them.  They have to know why they are being punished. They have to have a chance to escape God’s wrath. They must be shown the true day of worship so that they cannot reject it. For if they knowingly turn their backs against the light, and continue to worship on the first day of the week, they receive the mark of the beast. If the mark of the beast is received, the judgments which are given against the disobedient will fall upon the owner of the mark.  To receive this mark means to come to the same decision as the beast has done, and to advocate the same ideas, in direct opposition to the Word of God

 The ones who knowingly keep God’s Sabbath receive the seal of the living God. But they have to be warned about the temptations which are going to beset them. The time of trouble willbe like that which was never before seen. If they are not constantly on their guard they will stumble. Only by fixng their eyes on Jesus and remaining steadfast to His law can they escape that which will befall the wicked. Jesus wants His people to be prepared for the time that is coming. He wants them to know that only with Him can they pass through this ordeal, to receive the seal of the living God, which will mark them as being on the side of the Lord on that day when He must destroy those with the mark of the beast in the battle of Armageddon.

When Christ ceases His intercession in the sanctuary, the unmingled wrath threatened against those who worship the beast and his image and receive his mark (Revelation 14:9, 10), will be poured out. The plagues upon Egypt when God was about to deliver Israel were similar in character to those more terrible and extensive judgments which are to fall upon the world just before the final deliverance of God’s people.   {GC 627.3}   God is quick and abounding in mercy. He doesn’t want to punish us. But justice must prevail. He makes sure that all have heard the warning.

What does it mean to receive the mark of the beast?

It means to directly go against the precepts that God has laid out for us. It is siding with, and making the same choices that the beast has made.  It is advocating the same ideas and promoting the pagan day of worship that the beast promotes.

What is “the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation”?

Jesus has been merciful for so long. He has warned and pleaded. He has sent the angels with their messages. He has warned that whoever receives the mark of the beast will receive his wrath unmingled with mercy. He has always pronounced His judgments with mercy. But after the close of probation those judgments will be the pure thing. No more mingling of mercy. Jesus has not only given the chance to accept the mercy, He has begged, He has gone to every last resource to ensure that all have had the opportunity to accept His righteouness and obey His law. But His grace and mercy must not ignore justice. The dreadful judgmentswhich shall befall the earth will be similar to the plagues which were the result of Pharoe’s stubborness. But they will be more terrible and intense than those. They will come just before the diliverance of the children of God. All have been given the chance to accept or reject the warning. The choice is wholly theirs.

{GC 627.3}   See Rev. 16.

All the judgments upon men, prior to the close of probation, have been mingled with mercy. The pleading blood of Christ has shielded the sinner from receiving the full measure of his guilt; but in the final judgment, wrath is poured out unmixed with mercy.  {GC 628.2}

How are those who receive the mark of the beast “tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever”?

    They are no longer able to accept the mercy and truth which they refused. They must suffer the consequences of their rebellion. God’s wrath, unmingled with mercy is poured out, and the plagues fall. They must die the second death.

What does it mean that “the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever”? Give some Biblical support. You could also take a look at Jude 7 and Isa. 34:10,11.

   sodom and Gomorrah are the perfect example. They had to suffer the vengeance of eternal fire. The second death is not an eternal burning. The effects of the fire are eternal. The sufferer dies and is forever cut off from the Father. These are the eternal consequences. A God of mercy would not His children suffer forever. But they chose their course and received that which was at the end. If people were to burn forever then there would still be sin, for the sinners would still be alive. But sin is destroyed. Hence, those who comitted the sin must be destroyed too.

When was the second angel’s message given?

     The First angel was followed by a second angel who proclaimed that Babylon is fallen. this message was given in the summer of 1844.

Who did the second angel’s message have a more direct application to?

    When the second angel’s message was first preached (summer of 1844) it had a more direct application to the churches in America,  for they had the most opportunity to hear and heed the message. It was here that it was most abundant- both in its proclamation and rejection. these churches that rejected the great Adventist message had directly spurned the counsel of God.

 Why was the second angel’s message given?

Because the churches had trusted to their own strength, and by opposing the first message placed themselves where they could not see the light of the second angel’s message. Just like when we continue to ignore the Holy Spirit’s calling, after a while we can no longer hear it. But the beloved of God, who were oppressed, accepted the message, “Babylon is fallen,” and left the churches.

What were the consequences to the churches when they rejected the first angel’s message?

Those who rejected the first message could not be benefited by the second; neither were they benefited by the midnight cry, which was to prepare them to enter with Jesus by faith into the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary. And by rejecting the two former messages, they have so darkened their understanding that they can see no light in the third angel’s message, which shows the way into the most holy place.   I saw that as the Jews crucified Jesus, so the nominal churches had crucified these messages, and therefore they have no knowledge of the way into the most holy, and they cannot be benefited by the intercession of Jesus there. Like the Jews, who offered their useless sacrifices, they offer up their useless prayers to the apartment which Jesus has left; and Satan, pleased with the deception, assumes a religious character, and leads the minds of these professed Christians to himself, working with his power, his signs and lying wonders, to fasten them in his snare. Some he deceives in one way, and some in another. He has different delusions prepared to affect different minds. Some look with horror upon one deception, while they readily receive another. Satan deceives some with Spiritualism. He also comes as an angel of light and spreads his influence over the land by means of false reformations. The churches are elated, and consider that God is working marvelously for them, when it is the work of another spirit.”   {EW 260.1}

What is the “action step” of the second angel’s message?

Near the close of the second angel’s message,  I saw a great light from heaven shining upon the people of God. The rays of this light seemed bright as the sun. And I heard the voices of angels crying, “Behold, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him!”  {EW 238.1}This was the midnight cry, which was to give power to the second angel’s message.

When was the climactic closing up of the second angel’s message?

THERE WAS A CLIMACTIC CLOSING UP OF THE SECOND ANGEL’S MESSAGE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING OCTOBER 22, 1844. WHEN THE MESSAGES OF THE THREE ANGELS COME PROMINENTLY BEFORE THE WORLD AGAIN JUST BEFORE THE SECOND ADVENT OF CHRIST, THE ANGEL OF REVELATION 18:1 JOINS IN THE PROCLAMATION OF THE SECOND ANGEL IN THE MESSAGE THAT “BABYLON IS FALLEN.” “COME OUT OF HER, MY PEOPLE.”

 What was the Midnight Cry?

“And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.”                         -(Matt. 25:6)

It was a light   given upon the second angel’s message, and the cry melted the hearts of thousands. It went from city to city, and from village to village, until the waiting people of God were fully aroused. Many churches did not permit the message to be given, and a large company who had the living testimony left these fallen churches. A mighty work was accomplished by the midnight cry. The message was heart-searching, leading the believers to seek a living experience for themselves. They knew that they could not lean upon one another. {EW 238.3} Those churches that didn’t listent to this cry had hearts that were hardened and trampled down. They tried to stop others from hearing this message by banning it in their churches, but many heeded the cry and departed from these churches. The world today is trying desparately to distract us from Jesus. But have to pay attention to the signs, the warnings, and the pleadings of Jesus for us to separate from “Babylon.”

When was the Midnight Cry given?

It was given near the close of the second angel’s message.

What was the purpose of the Midnight Cry?

    This cry was given to give power to the second angel’s message. it was to arouse and lift up the discouraged saints, and to prepare them for the great work which was to be accomplished. This cry went from city to city. The faithful saints who were wating upon the Lord were encouraged by this cry. It was to prepare them to meet the Bridegroom.

For those who had received the first angel’s message, how did the Midnight Cry prepare them to enter with Jesus by faith into the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary?

Angels were sent from heaven to arouse the discouraged saints and prepare them for the great work before them. They knew that the bridegroom was coming. Because they heeded this cry, they would be prepared to hear the third message which told them the way to the most holy place. In order to stand before the judgment, man must keep the law of God. The judgment will examine our charcters to see if we have kept the law. The law demands perfection. By the time we come to the judment, we are wearing filthy garments, for we have not fulfilled the law. We cannot keep it on our own. Jesus must cover us with His perfect character.

Just as Jesus cleansed the temple both at the beginning and at the end of His public ministry, so in the last work for the warning of the world, two distinct calls are made to the churches. What are the two distinct calls to the churches, and when are these two calls made?

     The second angel’s message is, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”  This is one of the two calls that were made. It was first preached in the summer of 1844; but this message had a more direct application to our churches of the U.S. It was here that the message was most abundantly preached, and thus the most rejected. These churches also had the most progressive declension. However, the second angel did completely fulfill its purpose in 1844. These churches keep on rejecting the message. They sink deeper into sin,  but they are not yet fallen. They (Babylon) makes all the nations to drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. the third angel accomplishes the last great work. “I saw that the third message would close with power and strength far exceeding the midnight cry.” {1SG 195.1}  Just like the temple had to be cleansed twice, the people are not listening to the warning. the call is repeated, for the condition of Babylon is worsening. it is becoming more corrupted and pagan as time goes on.

The work of the fourth angel comes in at the right time, and joins in the last great work of the third angel’s message, as it swells into a loud cry. And the people of God are fitted up every where to stand in the hour of temptation which they are soon to meet.

It [the coming of the Lord] will not tarry past the time that the message is borne to all nations, tongues, and peoples.

Then will the message of the third angel swell to a loud cry, and the whole earth will be lightened with the glory of the Lord.–Testimonies, vol. 6, p. 401. (1900) {Ev 693.2}

{GC 604.1} Just before Jesus comes again the angel of revelation 18:1 joins in the voice of the second angel in the message, “Babylon is fallen.” ” Come out of her my people.”

       Will YOU heed the WARNING?

Who gives the first angel’s message?

“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth,…”
This angel represents the people who accept the light of God’s messages. They go forth as God’s ambassadors to warn the world of what is to come.

When was the first angel’s message first given?

The first angel’s message was given in 1843 and 1844. It was preached in America by William Miller and his collaborers. America became the center of the great advent movement.

Where did the prophecy of the first angel’s message have its most direct fulfillment?

The first angel’s message had its most direct fulfillment here, in the Advent Movement.

Why was the first angel’s message given?

In order to stand before the judgment, man must keep the law of God. The judgment will examine our charcters to see if we have kept the law. The law demands perfection. By the time we come to the judment, we are wearing filthy garments, for we have not fulfilled the law. We cannot keep it on our own. Jesus must cover us with His perfect character.

How is the first angel’s message announcing ” the hour of His judgment is come,” a part of the gospel?

Hanging upon the cross, Christ was the gospel…

The three angel’s message contains three parts: the Everlasting gospel, the keeping of the law, and the judgment is come. In order to stand before the judgment, man must keep the law of God.

This message tells when the opening of the judgment will take place and when the movement will take place. It is said to be a part of the everlasting gospel- but it is a part of the gospel which can be preached in the last days, because that is the olny way that it could be said the hour of His judgment had come. (not is or is to come.)

What were the consequences to the churches when they rejected the first angel’s message?

People often think to themselves that had thry been in Peter’s shoes, or lived in the Jews’ place, they would have accepted Christ. They think that they would not have rejected Him. But they did the very thing they swore they wouldn’t do… they derided the good news of His coming and shamefully rejected the Advent movement.

       Because they rejected the message, the Lord rejected them. The second angel’s message was then given as an anouncement of the churches’ moral fall- the result of their rejection.

    The first message was the warning that was rejected. Thus the second was sent to announce the fall and consequence.

      THE FIRST ANGEL’S MESSAGE WITH ITS DECLARATION THAT “THE HOUR OF GOD’S JUDGMENT IS COME” IS LINKED WITH THE PROCLAMATION OF THE EXPECTED ADVENT OF CHRIST IN THE 1830′S AND EARLY 1840′S.

How does the first angel’s message influence the second angel’s message?

The first message is to be repeated procleaiming the second advent of Christ to our world.The first message was the warning that was rejected. Thus the second was sent to announce the fall and consequence

The first and second messages were given in 1843 and 1844, and we are now under the proclamation of the third; but all three of the messages are still to be proclaimed. It is just as essential now as ever before that they shall be repeated to those who are seeking for the truth. By pen and voice we are to sound the proclamation, showing their order, and the application of the prophecies that bring us to the third angel’s message. There cannot be a third without the first and second. These messages we are to give to the world in publications, in discourses, showing in the line of prophetic history the things that have been, and the things that will be.–Manuscript 32, 1896.  {CW 26.2}

There cannot be a third message without a first and second. Likewise, there cannot be a second without a first.

In order to be prepared for the judgment, it is necessary that men should keep the law of God.

How is the first angel’s message still relevant today?

The announcement, “The hour of His judgment is come,” points to the closing work of Christ’s ministration for the salvation of men. It heralds a truth which must be proclaimed until the Saviour’s intercession shall cease and He shall return to the earth to take His people to Himself. The work of judgment which began in 1844 must continue until the cases of all are decided, both of the living and the dead; hence it will extend to the close of human probation.  {GC 435.2}

What is the “action step” for the first angel’s message?

The first angel’s message was given because  the principles of the churches had become corrupted. They were worldly. Jesus  is coming soon. We must
Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” We must keep the law of God in order to stand before the judgment…

How does the first angel’s message, as it was perceived during the advent movement of 1840-1844, fit together with the actual content of the first angel’s message?

To William Miller and his colaborers it was given to preach the warning in America.This country became the center of the great advent movement. It was here that the prophecy of the first angel’s message had its most direct fulfillment. The Message of  Revelation fourteen is given because the principles of the churches have become corrupted.

The first angel’s message of Revelation 14, announcing the hour of God’s judgment and calling upon men to fear and worship Him, was designed to separate the professed people of God from the corrupting influences of the world and to arouse them to see their true condition of worldliness and backsliding. In this message, God has sent to the church a warning, which, had it been accepted, would have corrected the evils that were shutting them away from Him.

…The message of the angel following the third is now to be given to all parts of the world. It is to be the harvest message

Divisions of Revelation 14

Revelation 14:1-5  is the harvesting of the righteous.

Revelation 14: 6-13  The Harvest message (three angels’ message)- This enables the reaping of the harvest to take place

Revelation 14: 14- 20  Reaping of the harvest- the righteous will be separated from the wicked

The Divisions of Revelation 18

These three angels represent the people who accept the light of God’s messages, and go forth as His agents to sound the warning throughout the length and breadth of the earth.

Revelation 18:1-3  Another angel gives the message that Babylon is fallen

Revelation 18:4-8  Another angel-The desolation and fall of Babylon, “Come out of her my people”

Revelation 18:9-24  The Fall and desolation of Babylon

note-   {There are different opinions as to the meaning of the seals mentioned in Revelation. As for the horses, I personally have not studied them enough to know where I stand. But this is one of the propositions that have been made… and as for the fifth through the seventh seal, im really not sure.)

In Revelation chapter 6 there are seven seals…

    The first seal is pictured as a white horse. The second seal is pictured as a red horse. These horses represent the protestants of 1844.

  “I heard, as it were the noise of thunder” (thunder delineates the events of the first and second angel’s messages.

     The first beast spoke with a voice of thunder. Upon his cry, the white horse went out as conqueror.   The white represents the white garment that is given at the marriage- which is at the end of the kingdom of grace. The white horse is receives a crown at the marriage. (We get an abstract crown at the marriage, as opposed to a concrete crown at the kingdom of glory.) The white horse is riding forth to conquer the advent people. They are God’s people who go out at the first and second angel’s messages.  These two messages were a call to go from the holy place in preparation for the third angel’s message. The third angel’s message was a call to go into the most holy place for Christ’s final atonement work for His people.

    Pause for a moment and picture a race track. The white horse is on one and the red horse is on the other.  Some people may have their feet on the white horse, but their heart may be on the red horse.  Sometimes we say one thing but do another.

    The red horse, on the other hand, represents those who received the truth but rejected it. They are falling progressively and they become the black horse. They rejected the first angel’s message. They are becoming BABYLON. The black represents their absence of truth. It relates to the second angel’s message- “Babylon is fallen.”  The rider of this  black horse holds a pair of balances. A voice says, “a measure of wheat or three measures of barley for a penny. This represents the scarcity of the truth of the three angel’s messages. But the voice also says, “Don’t hurt the oil and the wine.” The wine representing Christ’s atoning blood. His mediatorial work for us is still going on.

     This black horse then becomes pale at the Sunday law.  He has died spiritually, and his  rider’s name is death. He is going along with hell, and  is headed for the second death. The falling of Babylon is now complete.

  note-   {There are different opinions as to the meaning of these horses. I personally have not studied this topic enough to know where I stand. But this is one of the propositions that have been made… As for the fifth throught the seventh seal, my opinion is as I wrote.}

    “And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:”    “…and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.”

     After that John saw that the fifth seal was opened.  He saw that the souls who had been slain for Christ were judged, and then rested a little longer until some living saints were persecuted and killed. After the fifth seal comes the final warning of Revelation 18:1-4.

     The sixth and seventh seal are both about the second coming. Christ’s second coming completes the redemption plan. The sixth seal shows the wicked’s response to Christ’s coming; while the seventh seal shows the righteous’ response to Christ’s coming…

     Then he saw the sixth seal was opened…

And the earth was terrified. The powers of Heaven were shaken. Thee sun was darkened, the moon became as blood, there was an earthquake, and the stars  fell from Heaven. “And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.” And all the mighty men, and kings of the earth, and bond man and free cried to the mountains and rocks to fall on them and hide them  from the face of him that sat on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.

     “And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.”

    After the year 1844, there was no more prophetic time. When this says half an hour, it means an actual half an hour. God’s people cry out and ask who shall be able to stand (in the sight of a holy God). The angels that were previously singing now hush their voices- and there is an aweful silence…

   But praise God that Jesus assures us, “My grace is sufficient for you.”! All the sin we’ve ever committed, all the trials we’ll ever endure, all the heartache that has ever shattered our fragile souls will all dissapear. Everything that we went through will be well worth it. We will find that the price was cheap enough when we see Jesus coming in the clouds of glory.

     In the first verse of Revelation 5, we see that there is a book… and the book is sealed…

      The setting is the Most Holy Place.  (This is where the judgment (1844) and marriage also take place.)  We are at the final part of the redemption plan, which started in Eden, and ends at the Second Coming. The book is shut up until the time of the end (1798).     The book gets opened with the opening of the judgment…

     God the Father  is on the throne. Because He was slain, Jesus is worthy to take this book, and so He takes it from God. Jesus’ ability to open the book has something to do with redeeming us. This book is a book of redemption. It has to do with the heart. “Heart” is a Biblical term for character

  The Book

     The last days portion of Daniel was  sealed until 1798 because the prophecies were not yet fulfilled. The first angel’s message could not yet be proclaimed. It was unsealed from 1798 on- and it was unsealed in Revelation. Prophecy is now fulfilled, and can be proclaimed. This book is the fulfilling of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd angel’s messages. It is the portion of the plan that goes from the Advent Movement(1840-1844) to the Second Coming. This segment covers the judgment, the marriage, and the second coming. This book focuses on the events after 1798.  (The books that contain people’s records will be opened at the judgment.)

    This book, which is a book of the heart,  is written within and on the backside. Within, means within the heart. Backside, is referring to when in time- as opposed to where in place. It means that some will experience the truths/prophecies of the book after others do. We represent those on the backside of the vook. We have not passed over the ground in their experience, then these messages were first proclaimed. We have only heard about them.

     In Revelation 4, which is the introduction, we are told that a door was opened in Heaven…

     The open door is 18444- judgment began here. 1840-1844 was the time of the Advent Movement. The first angel’s message was preached during this movement. People thought that the message was, “Jesus is coming!” but it was actually that judgment was starting. In the spring of 1844, the second angel’s message was proclaimed, “Babylon is fallen!”. The intent of the message means that the iron and clay mixed with the seed. The third angel’s message unfolded in 1844. Because we never experienced these 3 messages in real time, we are “behind” or “after”. We are on the backside.

     We need to make sure that our charaters are right with God, and that they are not hardened from sin. In Daniel 8:14 the prophecy ( near fulfilled ) inspires the message of Revelation 14:6,7. It calls for a decision of the heart/character which we can accept or neglect, or reject altogether.

“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”  We need to accept the message.

     When Jesus comes, our characters must be pure and holy.  This is what the law requires. The law is the standard by which our characters will be judged. Our characters are composed of habitual thoughts and feelings. Another word for character is “nature”. The nature of man is 3-fold. There is the mental nature, the moral nature, and the physical nature. These can also be called “powers”. These three natures are not our character.  (example: love is an element of our character- a moral power)

       At the fall of Adam, man lost his character of God(unselfish character) and received the knowledge of evil (Satan’s character), which is a character that seeks to exalt self. Our thoughts are our knowledge. We all have these selfish tendencies from the time we are born. In order to for us to have a sinless character, God must deal with our sinful ones. Our physical natures will be perfect at the second coming. Our characters have to be made perfect while Jesus is still in the most holy place. All the bad things, the bevt to evil, our inheritted natures, the propensities to sin, must be removed from our characters in order for them to be perfect.  Our  records of  all our  sins  are blotted out after the Investigative Judgment.  In order for us to be perfect, our records cannot be there, because they are a mirror of our characters. Jesus’ blood doesn’t cancel our sins, however. It stands on record in the heavenly sanctuary until the final atonement.

How do we go about building our characters? Well, it can be explained as building a house.  We must cultivate our moral and mental powers, which are our reason, judgment, understanding, memory,c onscience, will, self-control, faith, hope, and love. If they are properly cultivated, they will form a right character. Faculties and powers are talents that we are given that enable us to act or do. They are called workmen. Love is an element of our character. It is a moral power. We can build our characters in the rock, or on the sand. No matter how good we may appear on the outside, our charcters will be judged by our thoughts and desires.

Faculty is a natural or acquired power or ability. Power is the ability to act; capacity for action.  The words faculties and powers are used interchangeably. They are talents. Both of these terms have to do with the ability to act or do, which is why they are called workmen.

     Although it is our responsibility to build our characters, and ur alone,  we can’t do it all by ourselves. We have to think pure thoughts constantly, to make our minds think them naturally.  We must constantly receive the Holy Spirit by putting thoughts from the Bible into our minds. If our thoughts are right, then our feelings will be right too. God changes our desires and feelings, for we can’t do it ourselves. he Investigative Judgment is the closing work of the heavenly sanctuary. It uses the law as the standard to examine our characters. It comes BEFORE the marriage, and determines who gets the benefits of it. The law covers thoughts, feelings, desires, emotions, and dispositions. Dispostions are propensity. They are our innate nature or inclination that we were born with.  If the law only judged our actions, then what about our evil thoughts and desires and designs? We would be innocent of them. But the law covers those innermost things. Every hidden thought and desire will be revealed. There is nothing we can hide. We must ask forgiveness,  so that our sins will be cast into the deepest parts of the sea. We need to go to the Marriage before the time of trouble.  We cannot be sinless without a Mediator during this time of trouble whithout the final atonement.

   T

     We must carefully realize that we cannot attain holiness on our own. this is a spiritualistic theory. Some believe that we can be holy by developing the power that is in us. (The faculties and powers). Although we DO have to cultivate our mental and moral powers,  our record of sin must be blotted out at the final atonement in order for our characters to be perfect. Our old desires have to be taken away for us to keep God’s law wholeheartedly. We have to recognize that we need the marriage. We have to realize that our sin must be blotted out completely. We have to be careful to understand the blotting out of sin, so that we can truly see our sinfulness.

     What would you say to someone if they were to ask you if you could prove to them when the 2300 days began? and ended?

     First of all, we are told in Daniel chapter 8 that it is 2300 days until the sanctuary will be cleansed.  We have to look at Daniel chapter 9 in context. It isn’t just a book on its own. It is preceded by Daniel chapter 8. The 2300 days was the only segment of time that was mentioned in Daniel chapter 8. Therefore, it must be the time period from which the seventy weeks were cut off. The seventy weeks are a portion of these 2300 days. They must have had the same starting point.

Starting in verse 21 of chapter 9,  Gabriel is sent to tell  Daniel what the dream means. He tells Daniel that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. this is the starting point of Jesus’ ministry. If we knew exactly when the commandment was given, it would be easier to know when the starting point for the 2300 days began. In Ezra chapter 6 verse 14 we are told that the command was given by King Cyrus, King Darius, and King Artaxerxes, (who completed it and issued it). This must be when the 2300 days began. The ancient calendar was started and ended in the spring. People calculated that Jesus would come in 1843. They got this number from subtracting 457 B.C. ( the year that king Cyrus gave the decree) from the 2300 days.  But alas! They hadn’t realized that the command hadn’t gone into effect until the fall of that year- not the spring, as they had thought. Also, they failed to see that the type of cleansing of the sanctuary was carried out on a certain day, that happened to fall on October 22 of the year 1844. They also failed to realize that this was the date for the cleansing of the sanctuary, not the coming of the Lord.

      Four hundred and ninety days was the amount of time that God gave the Jews to set up Christ’s kingdom in the world. After this time, God would turn from them and give this responsibility to the Christian church. God had designed this amount of time for the Jews to prepare the world to receive Christ’s first advent. Inspiration tells us that this time period was specially pertaining to the Jews. (GC 326.2)

(vs. 25)   “from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem”.   The starting point for the time span of the 2300 days was at the decree of Artaxerxes to restore Jerusalem. this decree was made in the fall of 457 B.C. From here the 2300 days were finished in the fall of 1844.

At the end of the 490 days six things will be completed:

“to finish the transgression”- At the final Atonement God will bestow upon us the present of Jesus’ perfect human nature to replace our sinful human natures. (original sin); “to make an end of sins” Jesus paid the price for sin- so that it can be erased; “to make reconciliation for iniquity” means that Jesus will fix the damaged relationship between God and us because of our sin;  “to bring in everlasting righteousness” means that God accepts Jesus’ perfect life in place of our imperfect one;  “to seal up the vision and prophecy” means that the fulfillment of the 70 week prophecy would ensure the fulfillment of the 2300 day prophecy;  “to anoint the most Holy” talking about when the Holy Spirit anointed Jesus at His baptism.
